Zeebrugge is the port for Bruges, a fairy-tale medieval city of cobbled lanes, dreamy canals, and a soaring belfry that's among the best-preserved in Europe. Chocolate shops, lace, Flemish art, and beer are everywhere, and the whole compact center is a UNESCO site made for wandering on foot or by canal boat. Brussels and Ghent are also within reach, but Bruges is the star.
Bruges is compact and best on foot — climb the Belfry early before the queue, then take a canal boat. It's about 20–30 minutes from Zeebrugge, so use the ship shuttle or a tour rather than expecting to walk from the port.
