Kingstown is the capital of St. Vincent, the lush volcanic anchor of the Grenadines chain. It's a genuinely under-touristed island of rainforest, waterfalls, and the brooding La Soufrière volcano — and the launch point for some of the Caribbean's most beautiful sailing, out to Bequia and the Tobago Cays. Pair a little history in town with either a nature hike or a catamaran into the islands.
St. Vincent itself is quiet and green, but the real treasure is the Grenadines — if a catamaran to the Tobago Cays or Bequia is offered, it's the best day you can have here. In town, the 1765 botanic gardens are a short, worthwhile stop.
