Le Havre is the Normandy port for Paris — and for the beaches, cliffs, and history of the Normandy coast. Paris, about two hours away, offers the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre-Dame for the ambitious; closer at hand are Monet's garden at Giverny, the dramatic cliffs of Étretat, and the moving D-Day landing beaches. Le Havre itself is a UNESCO-listed example of bold post-war modernist architecture.
Paris is a full two hours each way, leaving only a few hours in the city — be realistic, and consider that Normandy itself (D-Day beaches, Giverny, Étretat) is closer and arguably more rewarding for a port day. A ship tour protects you against the all-aboard on the long Paris run.
