Seattle is the main U.S. homeport for Alaska cruises and a genuinely great city to bookend a sailing. The waterfront cruise terminals sit minutes from Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and the original Starbucks, with ferries, museums, and coffee culture all around. Misty, green, and walkable, it rewards arriving a day or two early before heading north.
Arrive at least a day early — Seattle is worth it, and Alaska flights from the East Coast are long. Ride the light rail from the airport to skip downtown traffic, then you're a short hop from the piers.
